Calico Critters Hopscotch Grandparents, Nursery Friends, and Otter Family!

Welcome back to Critterland!

Calico Critters Otter Family Nursery Friends and Hopscotch Rabbit Grandparents

Today I busted out some Calico Critter / Sylvanian Families sets we haven't opened yet: Splashy Otter FamilyNursery Friends, and the Hopscotch Rabbit Grandparents. Now that our Critterland is beginning to come together, I thought I'd open these guys up finally.

Let's take a look!

Splashy Otter Family

I waited so long to buy these otters - they were always so expensive everywhere I looked. One day, they came up on Amazon for about $15, so I nabbed them up!

The packaging is so well done! I love the woodland backdrop.

What I love most about this family are the tiny babies snuggled up in the little fish-themed slings! Too cute!

It was so fun to remove take the otters out of the box and get a good look at their outfits, and I was so pleased to see the otter babies wearing "onesies" underneath the sling. These babies are smaller than "regular" Calico Critter babies, and do not have posable arms or legs. Their heads can turn, though.

The baby carriers ("slings?") are pretty durable, and nice and stretchy! It was easy taking them on and off the otters.

Our Splashy Otter Family will live in our little "Secret Island Playhouse," which is kind of like a treehouse and situated on a multi-level lake or ocean. It looks like this:

They will soon be happily splashing around in Critterland!

Nursery Friends

The Calico Critters Nursery Friends set includes a Persian Cat, Hopscotch Rabbit, and Hazelnut Chipmunk baby, along with little accessories for each. They come wearing little preschool uniforms with tiny shoes!

The kitten includes a little yellow hat, the bunny gets a pink satchel, and the chipmunk comes with a fun little thermos. Or at least, that's what Calico Critters suggests in the marketing photos.

Again, this packaging is brilliant! If you look closely, you'll even see a nursery bus in the background...

Here they are out of the package - so adorable! Each doll has posable arms and legs and heads that can turn. The accessories fit well, except I did need to jimmy the hand over the satchel to get it to lay correctly.

Take a look at this fuzzy kitten! Omigosh! The hat does not actually fit on her head (you could force it on there, but the ears make it stand up funny and it causes the strap to really pull on her chin).

These little guys will go into our nursery in Critterland. Yay - more babies!!

Hopscotch Rabbit Grandparents

This is another set that I've wanted for a long time, but could never pull the trigger because I felt it wasn't a good value at $20. But when it came down in price (briefly) on Amazon, I thought... now's the time! It's now or never!

When it arrived in the mail, I was immediately struck by how small the box was. And then, I realized the dolls are the same size as the "older sibling" figures, like the fashion girls that come in the Town Series. I fully expected they would be "adult" size so I was little disappointed!

You can see the box here, compared to a standard family box. It's small, right?

But my disappointment was short-lived. Once I had them out of the box, I was a giddy child. They are even lovelier in person then in a picture. I especially love Grandfather's nautical jacket and built-in mustache.

And of course... the glasses!! It took a minute for me to figure them out, but thankfully the box had little instructions printed on a flap. Oddly, the red ones seemed just a wee bit longer than the purple ones; the back part of them stuck out from the head more. But they fit, so all was well.

Once I had them on, the cuteness was almost too much to handle!

Thanks for checking out these adorable critters with me! And be sure to check out our YouTube channel for regular video updates on Critterland!

See you next time!
